College is an exciting and new phase of life, where students come out from the fenced world of high school to mark the beginning of freedom. However, it’s the time when students should become more responsible and focused toward his goals as that might set his way to a bright future. Students have some expectations from the college they join, but how many of them get fulfilled? Does a college stand well on the expectation of students? This is the one prime question that pops up in the mind of every student. Based on the survey done by JagranJosh in collaboration with Kantar TNS, it was found that students look for the following things in an engineering college:
Image or reputation of the institute
First thing first! Students willing to join an engineering college put reputation of the institute on top of their priority list. Out of the total students surveyed, 63% of them want the image and reputation of their dream college to be of top quality level. Students want their college to be accredited and affiliated by government regulatory bodies. Moreover, the respective college should have updated course syllabus along-with bench strength of quality faculty members. The institute must have collaboration with companies who provide real-time training to students for industry exposure.
Assistance from the institute for placement
The second most important thing that students look for in an engineering college is the placement record. It’s eventually about the past placement records, percentage of students getting placed and number of relevant companies visiting the institute that students want to figure out before taking admission. 51% of the total students surveyed said that they want their dream engineering should provide good placement assistance.
Facilities for recreational activities
It’s not only about the faculty, curriculum and placement assistance that students look for in an engineering college but also want their college to cover extracurricular activities interest. 50% of the students surveyed want their college to provide facilities for recreational activities like games, events, and talk shows. These recreational activities give student the space to relax and take a break from the pressure of studies for the time being. The more students will engage in recreational activities, their chances of doing well in studies will be more as their mind will fresh and calm. Students firmly believe that “All work and no play makes jack a dull boy”.
Availability of hostels
Availability of hostels also features on the expectation list of students. 50% of the total students surveyed want their engineering college to have proper hostel facilities with all safety measures covered. Specially, outstation students put this thing in top of their priority list. An engineering college must have proper hostel facility, covering every basic need of a student in terms of safety, security and food.
