Why MBA? This is a common question that is often asked by students who want to pursue higher studies. Yes, it’s true that doing an MBA from a premier B-school will surely take your career to the heights of success. However, if you are not clear about the purpose behind doing an MBA, and just want to pursue it to earn money and rule the corporate world, that’s not going to help you in the long run. This is because you are not yet clear about the reason behind doing an MBA.

Let’s say, you are working as a marketing executive and your job involves client servicing, campaign management and travelling. In that case, do you need to do an MBA as you are already doing well? It depends on what kind of goals you have set for future. If your aim is to just earn money, you don’t need an MBA for that. Nevertheless, if you are looking forward to learn and improve your knowledge to witness a life-changing experience, you must consider doing an MBA.

Here are a few important reasons to do MBA:

For career progression

Generally, everyone’s career begins with an operational or executive role, and with dedication and hard work, he/she gets promotion and reaches a position of repute in the respective organization. However, a good academic profile along-with rich work experience is not enough to grow, and at a point you start feeling stagnated. Therefore, at this stage you need to do an MBA to meet the industry demands and move from mid-level role to senior management role, where you can take strategic decision on behalf of the organization.

For Career Change

What if you want to change your career and switch to another role with you present work experience and academic qualifications? The chances are very little as not many organizations will consider you as a fresher. For instance, you have been in the data analytics role for the past 3 years, and now want to move into marketing as you have realized that your true potential lies in business management. In that case, a short-term course in marketing would not be as fruitful as an MBA will be. An MBA would give you the in-depth insight on marketing and its various roles, which will help you to club your past experience with the marketing knowledge that you will gain while doing MBA.

For Self-Growth

The most importance question is what you will eventually learn at a management college? As a matter of fact, a reputed MBA program gives you the space and confidence to think in the direction you want to. An MBA will give you the vision to look forward and help you to recognize your true passion irrespective of what you were in recent past.

Right from the student activities to interaction with faculty members to classroom experience and case studies, all these will change your perspective for betterment. This will also help you to see things differently and will give you to grow your decision making and problem solving skills.
