CAT: Common Admission Test
Common Admission Test (CAT) is the most popular and sought after MBA Entrance exam in India. The test is held annually to screen students for admission to flagship business management programmes at 20 Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs). In addition, over 100+ B-schools accept CAT exam score to facilitate admission process to MBA and PGDM courses. Every year, nearly 2.3 lakh MBA aspirants appear for the CAT in the month of December. CAT exam is conducted in a computer based format. Generally, the application process for CAT exam begins in the month of August and the exam is held in the month of November.
XAT – Xavier Aptitude Test
Often referred as the gateway to the Xavier’s league, XAT is the second most popular and considered to be the toughest MBA entrance exam in India. Xavier’s Aptitude Test is organized by the Xavier Labour Relation Institute (XLRI), Jamshedpur on the behalf of Xavier Association of Management Institutes (XAMI).Apart from these, nearly 150+ B-schools accept XAT exam score to select students for admission to MBA / PGDM programmes. The test is conducted to screen and shortlist students for admission to post-graduate degree programme in Management at XLRI, XIM, XISS, LIBA etc. Every year, about 1 lakh aspirants appear for XAT exam in the month of January. From 2019 onwards, XAT exam will be conducted in online format. Typically, the application process for XAT exam starts in August and the exam is conducted in the month of January.
GMAT – Graduate Management Aptitude Test
GMAT or the Graduate Management Aptitude Test is the MBA entrance exam that is ideal for candidates who are looking pursue their MBA abroad. GMAT is conducted by GMAC i.e. Graduate Management Admission Council – a non-profit organization. Currently, around 2100 universities across the globe accept GMAT scores for admissions into their management programs. GMAT Scores are considered for admission to MBA as well as MIM i.e. Masters in Management programmes. In the last decade, the GMAT exam score has also started getting wider acceptance in some of the top business schools in India. MAT – Management Aptitude Test
MAT or the Management Aptitude Test is a national level MBA entrance exam which is held 4 times in an academic year. The entrance exam is organized by the All India Management Association. Typically, MAT exam is held in the months of February, May, September and December. The exam is conducted as, both, ‘Computer Based Test’ as well as ‘Paper Based Test’. Candidates are also allowed to appear for the exam in both modes during a single session. For each session, around 20,000 MBA aspirants appear for the MAT exam. MAT exam score is accepted by nearly 300+ B-schools for screening students for admission to MBA programmes.
CMAT – Common Management Admission Test
CMAT or the Common Management Admission Test is a national level entrance exam that is conducted to screen students for admission to management programmes. Until 2018, CMAT was conducted by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). However, from 2019 onwards, the newly founded NTA / National Testing Agency will conduct the CMAT exam. The registration process for CMAT exam, generally, starts in the month of November and the entrance exam is held in January every year.
